Things to do in Kildare this Coming Month

The summer may be drawing to a close, but residents and visitors to Kildare will find plenty of great things to do this coming September. From horse shows to wild food festivals, we’ve compiled a handy list of fun activities you should check out!

National Irish Draught Show – Punchestown Racecourse

The 2015 National Irish Draught Show will take place this year on the 29th of August from 10am to 6pm at the Punchestown Racecourse. The event showcases Ireland’s native breed of horse and is a great opportunity to see some of the very best Irish Draught horses competing both in hand and under saddle. The event is part of the National Heritage Week, and tickets cost €5 for adults while children can attend for free. Check out the National Heritage Week website for more details.

Kildare Maze - Prosperous

The Kildare Maze, located outside Prosperous in Ballinfagh, is a family activity park with lots of fun amenities for the whole family to enjoy. This includes a 1.4 acre Hedge Maze, Wooden Maze, Adventure Trail and Crazy Golf, plus plenty of picnic areas. The hedge maze was established in the late 1990’s, uses St. Brigid’s Cross as inspiration for the design, and features over 1.5km of paths! We also highly recommend that you check out the Viewing Tower for some truly stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Kildare countryside. Kildare Maze is open every weekend during September, and tickets are €8 for adults and €6 for kids.

Naas Wild Food Festival

The Naas Wild Food Festival takes place this year on Saturday 5th of Sept at The Well located near the Harbour Hotel Naas. The WFF is a Naas Tidy Towns Committee special event, featuring a diverse range of food stalls promoting the very best local, national and international food. In addition to the excellent food, expect a bouncy castle and plenty of other attractions the little ones. The event starts at 1pm.

These are just a few of the wonderful things you can do over the next month in Kildare. Be sure to check out intokildare.ie for more events, and drop into us here at Zest next time you’re in the area.
